Deliece Blanchard is a painter who loves nature, color, and the mysterious communication that occurs through art. She met her husband, Fred, in a field biology class at UVA and the pair frequently explore the natural world side by side - painting and flyfishing. Blanchard paints from life, with some improvisation. Musical elements like rhythmic marks and lyrical decorations often appear in her work. Her paintings have a calm aesthetic, thoughtful design, and an insightful use of color. A signature member of American Women Artists, and juried member of OPA and AIS, she has been awarded fellowships from Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, the Tyrone Guthrie Center in Ireland, and the Verrocchio Art Centre in Italy. Her work hangs in educational, health care, corporate, and private collections. Blanchard has degrees in music and biology from the University of Virginia and lives in Winston-Salem, NC.
